Once again, the Solano Avenue Association is hosting its popular Halloween on Solano events on Friday 10/29.
Timed for kids who have just gotten out of their school Halloween celebrations, the fun starts around 3pm when hundreds of kids in costumes (with parents in tow) hit Solano Avenue businesses for some Trick or Treating fun. This event may be the worst-kept secret in town (the SAA doesn't want to draw so many people that it becomes a problem), but it's always a lot of fun for kids, parents, and businesses. During the pandemic, we recommend businesses hand out candy at, just inside, or even outside their doors. This is an easy way to make a good impression on hundreds of families for just the price of a few (OK, several... OK, lots of) bags of candy.
Then at 5:00 the attention shifts to Peralta Park (on Peralta at Solano) for the annual costume contest. The event will be different this year to keep it as safe as possible during the Pandemic, so there won't be free pizza and the SAA is asking participants to stay masked and distanced, but it still promises to be a lot of fun and way to appreciate the creativity in our community.
